Key Responsibilities: 1. Database Administration: o Manage and optimize EDB and open-source PostgreSQL databases. o Collaborate with teams to improve database performance and ensure high availability. o Design and implement scalable, highly available database platforms for on-premises and cloud environments. 2. Security, Backup, and Recovery: o Apply security best practices, including encryption and role-based access control. o Perform backups and restorations using tools like Pgbackrest, Pg_basebackup, Pg_dump, and Pg_dumpall. o Conduct regular restoration testing to validate data integrity. 3. Maintenance and Monitoring: o Develop and implement standardized database maintenance plans. o Monitor database health using Grafana, Prometheus, Telegraf, Loki, InfluxDB, and Pg_metrics. o Proactively identify and resolve database issues. 4. Performance Optimization: o Analyze and resolve performance bottlenecks with query and index tuning. o Utilize PGbouncer for effective connection pooling. 5. Upgrades and Migrations: o Manage PostgreSQL version upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime. 6. Basic Oracle Knowledge: o Possess foundational knowledge of Oracle database concepts and management. Skills and Tools: • Databases: PostgreSQL, TimescaleDB, EDB Advanced Server, Oracle (basic). • Backup/Recovery: Pgbackrest, Pg_basebackup, Pg_dump, Pg_dumpall, Barman. • Monitoring: Prometheus, Grafana, InfluxDB, Telegraf, Zabbix, PgWatch2. • High Availability: RepMgr, Patroni, HAProxy, PgPool. • Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes, Docker Swarm. • Performance: Query tuning, caching, PGbouncer. • Platforms: RHEL, Ubuntu, Azure VMs. Notable Achievements: • Developed custom database container images for Docker and Kubernetes. • Implemented high availability solutions using RepMgr and Patroni. • Enhanced performance through query optimization and bottleneck resolution. • Designed and deployed scalable database architectures for on-premises and cloud environments. • Successfully managed PostgreSQL migrations and upgrades with minimal disruption. • Seamlessly integrated database systems into application architectures.
